Ganesha Chaturthi

A day to celebrate Lord Ganesha's 

birthday is approaching....

this year it falls on the 13th of 

September. 

ガネーシャ神の降誕祭が

近づいています。

今年は、9月13日です。

Every month, we have a Chatruthi 

It is the 4th day after the New Moon

or Full Moon and is ruled by 

Ganesha. 

チャトゥルティは、新月と

満月の次の日から数え4日目

で、守護神がガネーシャとなります。

However, the Chatruthi in the 

dark phase of the moon in the month

of Bhadrapada is celebrated as 

His Diving Birthday. 

Today I share a story...

但し、バドラパダ月の月が欠けゆく

時のチャトゥルティが

ヴィナーヤカ･チャトゥルティ

（ガネーシャの降誕祭）として

祝われるのです。

それでは、ガネーシャの

お話を一つ。。。

One evening Lord Ganesha 

was on his way home on his 

mouse after eating lots of sweets.

ある夜、ガネーシャは、

沢山スイーツを食べた後、

ネズミに乗って家路に急いで

いました。

Suddenly he tripped on something

and fell of the mouse.

Sweets that kept around his belly

spilled out on the street. 

すると突然ガネーシャは何かに

つまずき転倒し、ねずみから

落ちてしまいました。

すると、持っていたスイーツが

こぼれ落ちてしまいました。

Ganesha picked up the sweets,

put them back in the belly 

very quickly and tighten his Cobra belt.

ガネーシャは、慌ててスイーツを拾い上げ

お腹にしまいこみ。

近くにいたコブラで締め直しました。

Chandra, the Moon, was watching this 

from the sky and laughed at Ganesha

as he could be so arrogant and callous. 

その状況を空から見ていた、チャンドラ

（月）は、ガネーシャをあざ笑って

しまったのです。

That's when Ganesha got offended

by Chandra's derisive laughter, 

and cursed the Moon to wane.

So, please think twice before you

laugh at a divine individual or 

someone superior. 

その時ガネーシャは、笑われたことに

腹を立て、月の光が陰るよう

呪ったと言われています。

ですので、間違っても神聖な人や

目上の人を

けなして笑うようなことは

やめましょうね。
